FAQ 01
How long does a full eye examination take, and do I need to allow time for my pupils to dilate?
The standard examination is 40 minutes. We use OCT imaging routinely, which means we rarely need to dilate pupils for a standard check. If we do need to dilate, we will tell you in advance and ask you to allow an extra 30 to 45 minutes and to arrange a lift home, as driving is not advisable for a few hours afterward.
FAQ 02
Can I bring my current glasses and frames to see whether new lenses can be fitted into them?
Yes, bring them along. Our dispensing optician will check the frame condition, measure the fitting, and give you an honest assessment of whether the frame is suitable for new lenses. Some older frames are not worth re-glazing; we will tell you that plainly rather than take the job and have it come back poorly.
FAQ 03
Do you accept NHS sight test vouchers?
Yes. Patients who qualify for an NHS-funded sight test are welcome to use their voucher here. This includes children under 16, full-time students under 19, patients over 60, and those with certain medical conditions. If you are unsure whether you qualify, call us before booking and we can check.
FAQ 04
What is your cancellation policy, and how much notice do I need to give?
We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. Appointments cancelled with less notice may incur a £20 fee, as that slot is difficult to fill at short notice. We understand that things come up; if you call us as soon as you know, we will do our best to be flexible.
FAQ 05
Is there parking nearby, and is the practice accessible for wheelchair users?
There is a pay-and-display car park on the street behind us, usually with spaces available. The practice entrance is step-free and the testing room is on the ground floor. The waiting area has chairs at different heights. If you have specific access requirements, please mention them when booking and we will make sure everything is ready.
